We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of diet help. Let’s take a look:
Question: GOMAD = Gallon Of Milk A Day. Has anyone ever successfully completed GOMAD without problems? I’m not sure it is reliable, and I think the trans fat and cholesterol in milk might not be good…
and I’m not sure this like is telling me the truth…:

I would like some helpful honest opinions/answers. If you have done GOMAD successfully without problems, that would help. Thanks.
there is a small amount of trans fat in 2% milk.
Answer: I have done GOMAD before and I highly recommend it for anyone who is struggling to gain muscle. I originally did it when I did the routine from the Super Squats book. Later, after I quit working out for a few years, I did the Starting Strength routine and did 3/4 GOMAD. There’s no way I could’ve gained as much muscle as fast as I did without it.
There’s not a whole lot of trans fat in milk and what’s there occurs naturally. The trans fat that people are worried about comes from fast food and cheap baked goods. Read the Wikipedia entry on trans fat. I’ve never heard anyone worried about getting excessive levels from milk.
The cholesterol isn’t a big issue anyways. Afaik there hasn’t even been a link shown between dietary cholesterol and cholesterol in the blood stream. The people who tell you to lower your cholesterol will tell you to focus on reducing your saturated fat intake, not cholesterol. However, even that isn’t clear-cut. See the book Good Calories, Bad Calories for more information.
Even today I drink a lot of whole milk. There’s no way I could get to and maintain a muscular bodyweight of 230 without it.
I just love answering these diet help questions. Here’s another:
Question: I made a decision, recently. I have decided to try switching over to more suitable food, for health’s sake.
Basically, what I need is a diet that is healthy, and helps gain weight(I’m a little on the skinny side), and a daily exercise regime that builds up muscle, especially in the arms and chest area.
Thanks for contributing, ten points for the best answer.
No powders or anything. Just good, healthy foods.

Answer: if you’re gonna eat healthy foods you won’t gain weight. try to avoid alcohol (i wish you’re not drinking in your age) and exercise as much as you can. swimming is a great exercise so i think that you should try swimming 1-3 hours every day.
good luck!
