ATKINS DIET Help! Someone?

Keep the diet help questions coming! I liked this one:

Question: Hello, I recently purchased the New Atkins diet book, but I cant seem to find the question I am looking for…
I like to workout in the morning but I cannot do it on an empty stomach and I cannot do it after an egg Omlette! so I like to take just after I wake up a protein shake, the one I take is zero carbs or 1g of carbs, I am just wondering if its ok while on Atkins diet to take a protein shake as long as I count the carbs from the shake in my daily intake.
Please help me …thanks!
please do not add any other diets, because atkins is the only diet I can do as I am celiac and i am, corn, rice, oatmeal intolerant so I have to keep it LEAN
Answer: This should be ok but don’t let it replace foods. I do not recommend the Atkins shakes or bars with sugar alcohols. They claim sugar alcohols don’t count, but I’ve heard from hundreds of people who can’t lose with them. My main concern is that it does not have fat - excess protein like carbs is also converted to glucose.

I would suggest creaming an equal amount of coconut oil into cream cheese, add a lil artificial sweetener - put this mixture in the freezer in a plastic bag - flatten it out fairly thin so you can break off pieces when it’s frozen & have a few bites of this with your protein shake. I highly recommend virgin coconut oil for people needing quick energy - coconut oil is the only fat that is converted to quick energy like a carb.

These 4 examples of foods which should be eaten daily during induction, gives you 33.5grams of dietery fiber - well over the RDA of 25g. After 2 weeks, you are allowed almost all nonstarchy vegs (less than 25g net carbs in week 3)

21g total carbs - 13g fiber - 8g net carbs - Lettuce, Romaine- 1 head
12g total carbs - 8g fiber - 4g net carbs - Celery - 4 cups chopped (about 8 stalks)
6g total carbs - 4.5g fiber - 1.5g net carbs - half an avocado
8g total carbs - 8g fiber - .5g net carbs - Flaxseed 1 ounce 4T
————————————–â?¦
47g total carbs - 33.5g fiber - 14g net carbs

Every day you should be eating these 2 items. If you need additional fat or calories, you can add a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil to the ground flax seed cereal.

Half an avocado mashed with 2 ounces of mayo seasoned with cayenne & eaten with pork rinds or celery.

Ground flax seed (4 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min for daily fiber needs.

You can lose more body fat eating protein & fat (don’t eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast, eat all you want, but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter & half an avocado a day (for added potassium). Keep the calories high & the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.

The first 2 weeks eat several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce & celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers & more variety of vegetables thereafter - add 5 grams per day additional every week (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) til you gain weight, then subtract 10grams. That will be your personal carb level (everyone is different & depends on how active you are.)

Start with meat, fats & salads for 2 weeks and then slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts & seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg, wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods.

The body won’t release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow metabolism to compensate & store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering calories, it will continue lowering the set point, til it can survive off nothing & store fat on anything. The body will only release it’s fat stores if it knows there is plenty of nutritious food.

The core of Atkins program is converting the body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). Dietary fat levels need to be at >65% of total calories, if not, the body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).

It takes about 3 days to convert a body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis). People feel sluggish the first week but most feel better than ever thereafter.

Carbohydrates trigger insulin, the ONLY fat storage hormone. Protein triggers the fat burning hormone glucagon.

Simple carbs are addictive & can be disastrous to health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a batch of deviled eggs, eat one every time you want "something" - have huge omelets with bacon, sausage, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Meats smothered with peppers, mushrooms & cheese - pork rinds & dip or tuna/chicken/egg salad - sugar free cheese cake. Eat so much you won’t feel deprived of anything. By the 4th day, the addiction will be gone & you can start making healthy choices.

High insulin levels unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise.

As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn’t gain weight, no matter the calories because insulin, the fat storage hormone is not activated. Most people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar & maintain weight or health.

Attn: Owners of Dogs on a Raw Diet..HELP PLZ?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I have a new pup she is 13 weeks old. She is a mutt. She is a golden retriever mixed with a mini poodle. She should mature to be about 30-40 lbs. As of right now she is 10 lbs. I am currently feeding her Blue Buffalo dry food. She has completely stolen my heart :) I want to give her the best diet possible and I hear a raw diet is the way to go.
My questions are

I feed her three times a day what is a fair amount of raw food at each meal?
Are raw eggs ok for breakfast?
Is it ok to sometimes give dry food and raw food?
Is it ok to give her a whole chicken drumstick (raw) and would this be a sufficient meal size for dinner?
I would appreciate links to reliable websites for more info. Of course I will do research before i switch her diet. BEST ANSWER goes to the one who can elaborate on why the answer is yes or no to my questions. The more info the better.
I came here for help, that is actually the entire point of this website is to help those in need not attack or be rude when I am simply using this website as it is meant to be used. When I stated please tell me why it is because I have answers like "NO raw eggs are not ok or NO chicken drumstick isn’t ok" I really don’t know if that means it isn’t enough food or because raw eggs or chicken legs are unhealthy. Ok let me rephrase if there is a specific reason why I shouldn’t give my dogs eggs or chicken leg please elaborate.

Any information is very much appreciated. Thank You/

Answer: No, a raw egg is not sufficent. Half of the shell does provide a correct amount of calcium per meal for most dogs, if you are afraid to give bones. Some raw feeders do a veggie slurry for one meal & do a meat & bones the next. Veggies need to have one of the folowing done so dogs can digest cellulose: they need to be EITHER: formerly frozen, lightly steamed, pureed or fermented (like saurkraut). Veggies provide FIBER for anal glands that clean themselves & numerous vitamins & minerals, as well as antioxidents.

Mixing kibble & raw is NOT okay, if you really want the best diet. It takes 12 hours to digest kibble only 4 hours to digest meat and bone. It throws the dogs system whacky to have to so switch gears, not to mention the huge load of carbohydrates the dog will have to deal with if you feed kibble.
Hyperactivity, food allergies, hot spots, A.D.D.-like lack of focus, are all more common in dogs fed high carb foods (that digest into SUGARS). Not to mention how fast the dog gains weight or becomes overweight.

Drumsticks are not usually the type of meat & bone recommended for dogs. Wings & necks are more commonly supplied. However, you need to read up on raw diets before embarking, IMO. I’ll supply with links to figure out the correct amount to feed.

Why it is better to feed raw:
=First, you control the ingredients. Recall the melamine poisonings (in petfoods) that killed so many pets a year or two ago, not to mention periodic problems in a number of foods, due to TOXIC mold.
2) If using kibble your pets are still eating CARBOHYDRATE-heavy foods. Even if it isn’t grain-based, that still is a problem. Dogs & cats are CARNIVORES, not Omnivorses. Their digestive system is set up differently from ours (shorter) & is DESIGNED to eat meat & bones (in 4 hours) not digest carbs (takes 12 hours) that turn into SUGARS, that require huge amounts of insulin & can cause or increase weight gain.
3) Sugars are INFLAMMATORY, they feed any inflammatory response in animals whether it is joint pain, food allergies, hot spots, kidney/bladder stones or cancer.
4) Many grain sources have insecticides used on them, etc. Grain allergies are the number 1 & 2 food allergies in dogs.
5) Cooking chemically changes meat 95% of dogs with a protein allergy can eat it raw, but not cooked. BTW, much of the nutrition is cooked OUT of kibble.

Coats are better on raw, teeth are cleaner if they chew on real bones, bloat is almost unheard of. There’s more reasons why raw is better - but that’s a good start, IMO.

Best Post Natal Diet. HELP!!?

Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:

Question: I just had my second baby 12 weeks ago. Normally I am about 125lb and 5ft 9in. After my first child I lost all of the weight right away! With this one I lost it quickly then started putting it back on. It’s winter where I live and don’t really have the time or money for a gym. And despise work out videos. So, an easy diet would be best. I am now 142 and would like to get back down at least to 130, as NONE of my clothes fit!
What worked for you ladies?
Answer: I say…. just relax a little!!! dont panic about it RIGHT NOW… it ALWAYS takes longer for the 2nd, 3rd and so on than what it did after the first. They say it usually takes up to 12 months to comfortably get back to your pre-baby size. spend this time with bubs, not worrying about your weight!!!

If you reeeeally want to do it now, just start taking bub for a walk in the pram…. i have 3 kids now, so i like to go after dinner, the elder 2 are in bed, hubby is home from work to listen out for them and my baby and i have our special time, out in the fresh air! I only walk 20-40 minutes (depending on how much the kids have worn me out during the day) and try to go 3 times a week. Its not only good for your body, but it gives you time to be by yourself… its a great calming technique after kids have been stressing you out all day.

also limit food… i’ve heard the 400/4 diet work well… 400 claories per meal, 4 meals a day. You can eat what ever the family is eating, but make sure yours is only worth 400 calories.

:/ I Feel Fat and Want to Diet Help?:/?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: Well my mom has told me I’m fat(<–yep she did) and I think I’m fat :/ and I want to go on a diet? How should I do this?? I’ve tried it before but it’s hard lol.. So any suggestions on how to diet:/ and those weIghtloss things they show on TV don’t work! And ik to exercise but what else?
Answer: The products you see on TV are merely just an aid to help you burn fat and lose weight. Well, you should go jogging early in the morning, as much as possible (during diet days) do not eat rice, instead eat vegetables, do some dancing.

Walk a lot, never use elevators, patience and most importantly discipline. Controlling yourself is the best key to your answer. Good luck on your Diet!

Diet Help?……………………..?

I just love answering these diet help questions. Here’s another:

Question: Ok, so i’m trying to lose about 2 pounds a week (although any more is definitely good). I’m 14, 6′2", 202 pounds. My goal weight is 180. Can anyone help me out with a diet like what foods to eat and what to avoid and all that stuff. Also i run about 2 miles a day for exercise and thats about it :L
Answer: At your age, you don’t need to go on a "diet" per se. You need to simply be more active, eat little or no refined sugar (soda, candy, etc. but fruit is ok), eat more protein, don’t eat after about 7 pm, get plenty of sleep and perhaps get involved in sports at your school. These simple things will also keep you from having more serious weight problems as you get older! Trust me - I went through it. :)

100 Calorie Per Day Diet Help!!!!?

What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: i have a question. i have been desperately trying to lose weight, and now i am on my last leg. i have been eating only around 100-200 calories a day, and i have been losing weight. today though, without thinking, i ate a chocolate bar. did that just ruin my diet? AND PLEASE DON’T TELL ME NOT TO DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR THAT. I AM ALREADY DOING IT. Just answer my question. thanks :) and people. i am not going to kill myself. i just want an answer
Answer: 100 calories a day? You do realize that you are starving yourself, right? And that all the weight you’ve lost is probably muscle, not fat, and it’s going to come back? You’re messing up your metabolism, making it slower so you burn less and gain more fat. Your body is probably grateful for the extra calories.

You need to use your height and weight to find out how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight, then subtract 500-750 calories without going under 1200 calories a day. Slow and steady wins the race. The slower you lose it, the longer it stays off.

I Swim a Lot but I Need a Good Diet HELP!?

Another diet help question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I swim everyday of the week but i eat Chocolate and crisps i need to eat healthily but i don’t know what to eat to 1.loose weight and 2.become a better swimmer so help me tell me what to eat please?!
Answer: Well, since you’re a swimmer, you shouldn’t have a problem loosing weight. A friend of a friend once told me that swimming burns calories and makes you perspire a lot (though, obviously, you won’t notice it), so you probably lost some weight by now.

I don’t know about Chocolate and crisps, but i did a little research and it says that CHOCOLATE DRINKS are quite good for exhausted muscles. So maybe a little amount of "chocolate and crisps" wouldn’t be bad.

Good Diet, huh?
In my opinion, you should start by eating fruits and vegetables and make a snack out of them.
If you are craving for "unhealthy" foods, try talking to yourself out of it.
And let me tell you, loosing weight needs dedication and perseverance. Even I am trying to loose weight.
Good Luck.!!

Im Trying to Lose Weight Extreme DIET!?[HELP! 10POINT]~?

This week’s question is as follows:

Question: Ok, Hellooo. I am 13 5′4 and 110 pounds im trying to get to 100 dont ask why… but ya I havent ate anything I was gonna try the aneroxic diet but i love food soo… nope… Its 12pm and I woke up like 2hours ago… when should I eat… [EXTREME DIET!] I cant realy excerise maybe 20min jog or something in the house?… okay thankyou please help… [ maybe i want to be 95pounds] i know i forgot breakfast but yaa…. THANKYOU!
Answer: First off, you don’t need to loose weight, I calculated your BMI (Body mass index) and for your height / weight, you are a 18.9 which is a normal weight (normal range is 18.5â??24.9 so you are actually on the low side of normal.

You have to eat, it sounds to me like you are on the way to having an eating disorder. These disorders are very hard to work past and can take years to work though to the point where you are living almost normally, it hangs on for a long time. Just make sure when you have your meals you have everything in moderation and balance it out (remember all 4 food groups) and don’t be afraid to have a treat every once in a while i.e. a chocolate bar or something sweet, it won’t hurt you.

Also, for snacks look for fruit and raw veggies, yogurt is also a good snack or maybe even a granola bar. Oh, and eggs are a good source of energy!
