I Need Help with My Diet and Excercise?

Another diet help question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: I 11 and a little chubby so I want to start eating better and excercising. Can you help me, I want to to look good next year for school?
Answer: Try this out:

Goal: Aim to lose 1 - 2 pounds a week. If you try to lose more than two pounds, you may be losing weight too fast, which commonly leads to gaining back all the weight that was lost, plus more.

Exercise: If you have access to a gym, try out the elliptical machine and/or treadmill. If you are able to, run or jog a mile each day for about 3 to 5 days a week. If a mile is a bit too much, start out with half a mile, or even less; whatever you feel comfortable with! Gradually increase your distance (and your speed if you prefer). However, if you don’t have access to a gym, try running around your block. The best time to exercise is within an hour of waking up in the morning. The reason? You burn more calories after a workout than if you had just been sitting on a couch; so exercising in the morning will allow you to burn more calories throughout the day, even long after you’re done with your workout! Make sure not to hit the snooze button on your alarm clock too many times!

Diet: Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day: breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and if you need to eat more, have an evening snack. PORTION CONTROL IS KEY. If you are able to, prepare each meal ahead of time so that when it comes to eating a meal, you don’t overdo it. Try eating somewhere away from the kitchen so you’re less likely to go back for seconds or thirds. Eat your last meal/snack no later than 6:30 - 7:00 p.m., and try not to eat anything for the rest of the night, or at least don’t eat anything 3 hours prior to going to bed. Only drink water as your main beverage, and make sure to drink lots of it (it has been proven to speed up your metabolism)! Eat PLENTY of fruits and vegetables. They’re low-cal, so in this case, more is better than less.

The first couple of days of this diet may seem tough, but trust me, soon it will become a habit! Also, this is a good diet that will help you lose weight, and then maintain your new lower weight for life, and never go back to the way you used to be. Good luck!

I'm Currently on a Diet and My Friends Bought Fast Food for Me. Help?

A tough diet help question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: I’m on a strict diet and have been doing great so far. My friends want me to meet them in a bit to hangout and they bought me food. Fried food, to be exact, and I know it has a ton of calories. I don’t want to eat it, but that would be so rude and inconsiderate of me. What’s the best thing I should do in this situation? 7lbs doesn’t sound like a lot, but it’s a struggle for me and I don’t want to ruin my progress!
Answer: If your really strict about your diet and you want to keep disciplined, just eat your meal before you go to meet up with them. And say you just ate and that your full. No need to stress out about being rude or whatnot… that’s just nonsense.. and they don’t have to understand or empathize with you.. it’s your life, not theirs. This used to happen a lot with my friends a couple years ago.. I did exactly what I told you up there.. and after a few times, they didn’t even bother to ask me about junk food because they know how strict I am about my health.

Has Anyone Ever Followed the "Blood Type Diet?" Has It Helped You?

Another diet help question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: there’s this whole thing about the "blood type diet"
how certain blood types function better with certain foods. for example type A’s are like all vegetarian, and should avoid meats, while type O’s are the exact opposite…

has anyone ever followed this? do you actually feel healthier? do you think it’s all b.s. or do you believe it makes sense and might actually work?

any details you have would be greatly appreciated.

Answer: I’m a type A who is following a whole plant based diet completely void of dairy, meat, fish, pork, poultry, and any other form of animal protein. I’m thriving and feel better than I have since I was a teenager. I take B12 and D supplements as needed and eat lots of leafy greens, legumes, flax seed, whole grains (non-gluten), fruit, and colorful vegetables. I avoid all processed foods including MSG, aspartame (diet drinks), alcohol, caffeine, refined sugar, refined fat/oil, excess salt, and food additives.

Unfortunately for the ‘eat right for your type’ advocates, the following distinguished biochemists and nutrition researchers have recommended a whole plant based diet for everyone:

Dr. Joel Fuhrman
Dr. Neal Barnard
Professor Emeritus T. Colin Campbell
Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr.
Dr. Dean Ornish

There is some lab work to suggest the eat right for your type, but the peer reviewed studies have not yet been conducted. On the other hand, there are decades of solid peer reviewed scientific studies that show a strong correlation between a Western diet and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

In other words, everyone should try to avoid animal-based foods and refined foods. Of course if you live in the arctic with Eskimos, you will find that your survival depends on animal-based foods. The Eskimo populations suffer cardiovascular diseases as a consequence. Populations avoiding animal based foods and processed foods enjoy better health and at least another 10 year addition to their life expectancy.

There may be something to the blood type diet, but its not proven. A pure, whole foods diet has been proven to improve health. If a wide variety of foods are available, choose whole plant based foods. Dairy and meat are health risks. The food industry promotes a single beneficial component of these foods and ignores the risks just to increase their profitability.

Insanity Food Diet? Help Best Answer 10 Points?

Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:

Question: Hi I’m 15 5′5 & weight 115 lbs. I’m on my second week of insanity day 3 :D but I know I won’t see results without diet. I want to burn the body fat I have to get a 6 pack, what types of food should I eat throughout the day? I am trying my best to only drink water, milk, or juice. No soda or gatorade because of the sugar.
Answer: 1. Base your meals on starchy foods. Starchy foods include potatoes, cereals, pasta, rice and bread. Choose wholegrain varieties when you can: they contain more fibre, and can make you feel full for longer. Starchy foods should make up around one third of the foods you eat.
Most of us should eat more starchy foods: try to include at least one starchy food with each main meal. Some people think starchy foods are fattening, but gram for gram they contain fewer than half the calories of fat.

2. Eat lots of fruit and veg

Itâ??s recommended that we eat at least five portions of different types of fruit and veg a day. Itâ??s easier than it sounds. A glass of 100% unsweetened fruit juice can count as one portion, and vegetables cooked into dishes also count. Why not chop a banana over your breakfast cereal, or also as a snack for some dried fruit and even nuts which is good

3. Eat more fish

Fish is a good source of protein and contains many vitamins and minerals. Aim for at least two portions a week, including at least one portion of oily fish. Oily fish is high in omega-3 fats, which may help to prevent heart disease. You can choose from fresh, frozen and canned; but remember that canned and smoked fish can be high in salt. Oily fish include salmon, mackerel, trout, herring, fresh tuna, sardines and pilchards. Non-oily fish include haddock, plaice, coley, cod, tinned tuna, skate and hake. Anyone who regularly eats a lot of fish should try to choose as wide a variety as possible.

4. Cut down on saturated fat and sugar

We all need some fat in our diet. But itâ??s important to pay attention to the type of fat weâ??re eating. There are two main types of fat: saturated and unsaturated. Too much saturated fat can increase the amount of cholesterol in the blood, which increases your risk of developing heart disease. Saturated fat is found in many foods, such as cakes, pies, biscuits, sausages, cream, butter, lard and hard cheese. Try to cut down, and choose foods that contain unsaturated rather than saturated fats, such as vegetable oils, oily fish and avocados. Learn more, and get tips on cutting down, in Eat less saturated fat.

Sugary foods and drinks are often high in calories, and could contribute to weight gain. They can also cause tooth decay, especially if eaten between meals. Cut down on sugary fizzy drinks, cakes, biscuits and pastries, which contain added sugars: this is the kind of sugar we should be cutting down on rather than sugars that are found naturally in foods such as fruit and milk. Food labels can help: use them to check how much sugar foods contain. More than 15g of sugar per 100g means that the food is high in sugar

5. Eat less salt

Even if you donâ??t add salt to your food, you may still be eating too much. About three-quarters of the salt we eat is already in the food we buy, such as breakfast cereals, soups, breads and sauces. Eating too much salt can raise your blood pressure. People with high blood pressure are more likely to develop heart disease or have a stroke. Use food labels to help you cut down. More than 1.5g of salt per 100g means the food is high in salt. Adults and children over 11 should eat no more than 6g of salt a day.

6. Drink plenty of water

Try to drink about six to eight glasses of water (or other fluids) a day to prevent dehydration. When the weather is warm or when we get active, we may need more. But avoid soft and fizzy drinks that are high in added sugars.
Remember: When thinking about alcohol, there is nothing wrong with the occasional drink, but drinking too much can cause serious health problems. Alcohol is also high in calories, so cutting down could help you to control your weight.

7. Donâ??t skip breakfast

Some people skip breakfast because they think it will help them lose weight. In fact, research shows that eating breakfast can help people control their weight. A healthy breakfast is an important part of a balanced diet, and provides some of the vitamins and minerals we need for good health. Wholemeal cereal, with fruit sliced over the top is a tasty and nutritious breakfast or even flax seeds.

Hope this helps.

Someone Pleas Help, What Do You Think of Diet Plan? Im 14?

What a great diet help question:

Question: hey :) well i started my diet and im two weeks in but thing is i didn’t lose any weight.
i understand why i didn’t lose any weight the first week since i didn’t exercise at all.(ii actually did 3 days kitosis since my mom advice me too) and in my second week i only exercised 4 days
so im going to start my 3rd week much more serious
heres what i did so far today and what i plan to do on my diet and give me tips :)
+well i woke up at 9 30 and ate a small energy snack and worked on the treadmill for 30 minutes and walked 2,2 miles at 4.0 speed
+i ate breakfast right away- 1 slice of whole grain wheat bread (100 cal) and 2 egg whites (40 cal) and some mayo (90 cal , i have lowfat but i put the the wrong mayo by mistake) and a few almonds (like 5)
+2 hours after my bf i did my insanity workout
+right after insanity i drank my protein shake (130 cal,23 grams of protein , and 1 gram of sugar) i use this as my snack
+after i drank my shake i walked for 30 minutes again 2 miles it burned more
+2 hours later lunch- 1 slice of bread(110 cal) 2 egg white (40 cal) mayo(90)
i thought maybe i should eat more so i ate 1/4 cup of original fiber cereal without anything
+ for this snack i might 1 cup of danon fit vanilla yogurt (110 cal)
+for dinner im eating a salad with fish and 2 cups of grean beans and maybe some spinach and no carbs
+before i go to sleep i plan to do 15-20 minutes of exercises including situps ,squat ups, push ups, jumping jacks, lunges and etc.and additional 5 minutes of stretching

am i doing okay? i hope to see results since i made my diet more strict, but the days i did do insanity which were 5 days i havent lost any weight and actually gained 2 pounds, i dont mind gaining muscle ( i know it weighs more) but i dont see even a little results

im 14.. 5′1.. and 130 lb :(

Answer: You’re doing fine, but make sure not to eat too little at your age. Personally, at that age, whenever I really worked out I would gain muscle mass faster than losing fat, so don’t be surprised if you do too. If you’re looking to lose weight though, running is the way to go because it mostly tones muscles while burning max calories.
