Will This Diet Help Me Lose Fat Weight/gain Muscle Mass?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: Hey I am a few months from 15 years old. 5 foot 8 and my fat percentage is 14.0 BMI=17.5. If I eat no junk food(I eat apples, oranges.lettuce, corn, pretty much all fruits and veggies) and a little bit of low sodium lean meat(skinless) will my above question work. Also I use perfect pushups and do cardio once a day but I reapeat this workout twice(it’s the pyramid interval cardio)http://www.menshealth.com/men/fitness/cardio-activities/interval-training-workouts/article/882a99edbbbd201099edbbbd2010cfe793cd Thanks!
Answer: You lose fat and probably muscle. You need protein to gain muscle.

I Need Help with a Diet?

I just love answering these diet help questions. Here’s another:

Question: I am looking to loose about 50 pounds by March, I am a stay at home mom of 4 and go to school part time (online). I have been exercising every morning with my kids. My problem I am having is the diet part. I am not sure what to cook for a diet when I am cooking for 4 kids and my husband, I am also cooking on budget. So if there is anyone that as any ideas or can help me I would greatly appreciate the help.
I am about 5 Feet 7 inches and weigh about 185 pounds.
I am 29 years old.
Answer: Vegetables, vegetables anddd….vegetables. They have lots of fat-fighting nutrients.
There is also a diet I used that WORKS WITH your body. There aren’t very many restrictions at all. You just need self-control.
Breakfast: Fruit. As much as you want, whichever you want. This jump-starts your metabolism with the antioxidants and natural sugar.
Lunch: Carbs OR protein. You should NEVER have carbs and protein together while trying to lose weight. Studies show that the digestive acids cancel each other out, and neither gets properly digested. So, you can have chicken, with vegetables. Or a chicken salad, with light dressing. But not, say, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Dinner: Same thing as lunch. Add lots of vegetables though. They will fill you up, along with protein. (you CAN have protein and veggies together)
Advice: Dont drink milk/juice/water with your meals unless absolutely necessary. This dilutes the digestive acids.
Also, if you want to forgo a meal, and have, say…french toast with eggs and bacon? by all means, go ahead. just make sure you jump back on the plan by lunch. So with this diet, youre okay to slip up. Just remember self-control.
Good luck, i hope this helps :)

Orthostalic Hypotension is It Long Term? Is There Any Change in Diet That Could Help?

I just love answering these diet help questions. Here’s another:

Question: My 13 year old son has been recently blacking out. Orthostatic Hypotension also known as Postural Hypotension could be the cause. Is this going to be long term? Is there something I can change in his diet to help lesson the problem?
Answer: Orthostatic hypotension is relatively common in young people, however blacking out from it indicates a more severe form than the norm (transient lightheadedness associated with postural changes). Treatment depends on the cause.

Make sure he stays well hydrated, because dehydration can make the condition worse. He should also try to eat 6 small low carbohydrate meals a day instead of three meals if the doctor feels his condition may be related to blood sugar fluctuation. He also may be advised to increase salt intake, but again, that should be on the recommendation of his physician. As I’m sure your doctor has already told you, he must take care to get up from a seated or prone/supine position slowly. The same goes for bending over, even when seated. In neurally mediated hypotension, stress or upset can make the problem worse.

He may very well outgrow this, but again, it depends on the cause. Your doctor can give you more information on that.

Basic Dieting Questions. Help Please? Will Give Best Answer Points?

I just love answering these diet help questions. Here’s another:

Question: I am currently bike riding and trying to lose weight. I have lost 35 lbs. already over the course of 3 months about. I have started eating less than i used to, and have started eating more fruits; however, i do intake a sufficient amount of calories that I do not find myself tired. I do eat meats and that, so it’s not like a crash diet kind of thing. The only really huge difference is the bike riding. When I bike I go all out. I’m usually out for a half hour, but I get a good 9-10 miles in. My question is, am I setting myself up for a failing diet in the end? Am I losing stored fat weight, or some other kind of weight? How much do I need to get to to start noticing a significant leaner stomach? And is there anything else I can do to help improve and fine tune my diet?
Answer: The main thing that sets people up for failing in diets is dieting in a way that you will not be able to sustain if you think you can keep at your diet/weight loss program then no you probably aren’t setting yourself up for failure, the main thing is keeping at it.

As for the weight loss in terms of is it fat by 20 minutes (in general) you have used up all the readily available carbs in your body and so start to burn fat personally i would suggest that if you can try and stretch the biking out for another 10 minutes it can make a big difference (again i say may because everyone is different)

As for the leaner stomach from my personal experience I didn’t think my stomach was getting any leaner when i was losing weight but then i noticed that my pants were feeling a little looser and other people started noticing so just look for the small things like that and if someone asks you if you’ve lost weight don’t assume that they are just being nice you just may not notice the difference.

The most important thing though is to keep at it the changes you want aren’t going to happen overnight so keep at it and be positive :)

I Can Anyone Help Me with a Diet Plan?

What’s this week’s diet help question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: I’m 30 yrs. old, 5′9", and 155-158 lbs - I go up & down really. I have 2 kids & work full time, but I know that’s not an excuse!! I used to be in great shape - problem is - I never had to do anything! The past few years though, the weight is sticking like glue. I do some quick, aerobic sets( about 10 min. each) on a DVD I have about 3-4 times a week, but that’s it. I’m just never motivated - even though I HATE my weight now. Any tips on a diet or fitness plan? I know I need to get my butt in gear - I’m just having trouble getting started.
Answer: Do you know why it was easy back then and harder now. As we age our metabolism slows down. Yes in your 30s its a little harder to drop pounds. You have a busy life with the 2 Kids & work full time. That is like having two full time jobs and i respect you for that. It is hard to get motivated alone. I was a Fitness Trainer in the Military before retiring this year. Even for me it is sometimes to motivate myself but i do manage. Having someone to help you is always a bonus. Now since you are soo busy, i would suggest you try the Slim Fast Diet plan as it will work with your busy schedule and not require alot of time focusing on your diet.

Help Me Plan out a Diet and Fitness Plan?

Another diet help question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:

Question: Im 16
Fairly short, slim, but not really healthy

My daily diet includes a bottle of V energy drink, A packet of chips, dinner (usually meat and vegetables or pasta) and dry biscuits

Every weekend i go on a 20 minute walk to my shopping centre and back when i meet up with friends. That’s about the most i exercise.

I have a set of dumbbells, but i find it hard keep motivated to curl them each day. When i do get round to it i do 2 sets of 8kgs

Summer is coming up (in Australia) and i want to look my best for the beach.
Can anyone help me with a diet and fitness plan for each day?
Incl: No. of sit ups, push ups, curls to do.
What to eat etc.

I really like my V (guarana), but I probably shouldn’t have it 5 days a week. Can you help me choose a substitute?
Is 2 Vs a week still healthy?

Answer: If you want to look good for the beach then get out the dumb bells. There are many lifts you can do. Curls, bench, shoulder press, flys, upright rows, lunges, split squats etc etc etc. Supplement with pushups, pullups and crunches or sit ups. Generally three sets of 10 to 15 reps with a minute of recovery between every other day or at least 3 x per week.
Diet, lose the chips and empty carbs. Eat a little protein at each meal and cut down on bread, pasta and potatoes. A protein shake drink half before your work out and the other half right after your workout. You will start to see results in 4 weeks.

I Need Help with My Diet..?

Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:

Question: For the past couple of months I’ve been eating better on and off, but my weight has remained the same. I’m a 19 year old male, 6 feet tall, around 190 pounds. I just started going to the gym and need help orienting myself in my workout regime and diet. Every morning before I workout I have a bowl of Fiber 1 cereal, with 5 tables spoons of Hemp Shells. More info here http://www.healing-source.com/about_HempHearts_b.htm

They’re designed to give you all of the required elements you need, with more portein than eggs or milk, but make you less hungry and give you more neergy in a day. Then I’ll have some fruit around lunch, and a salad for supper. I want to lose weight and build muscle, I know that’s everyone’s plea but I am truly willing to put all of the effort forward, I just lack the direction. Any advice on what healthy foods I can consume and how much of them without gaining weight.

Answer: A few things you need to do:

1. Don’t eat fiber 1 cereal, if you look in the ingredients it has high fructose corn syrup, and partially hydrogonated oils. Basically this means it will not help you loose weight but gain weight

2. If you want to lose weight and gain muscle try this approach
eat nothing out of a box, can, or bag (hemp seeds are fine) for two months, make sure to get at least 1 gram of protein for your bodyweight. In this case you should be getting about 190-200 grams of protein per day.

3. Limit all processed starchy carbs (chips, bread, wheat, etc) its hard but if you are dedicated it will pay dividends.

4. For workouts routines go here and search around the site (the tag cloud will lead you where you want to go.)
