PLEASE HELP DIET FOR KIDS?!!!?!!?

We’ve had a reader question come in on the subject of diet help. Let’s take a look:

Question: ok so now im entering my healthy change (not calling it diet) this is what i eat, like once or twice my makes chicken stir fry, it has white rice with pieces of ham and i think onion, and the stir fry has broccoli, carrots, bell peppers (cut into slices), and pees, and she adds some kind of yellow looking thing she puts on there, that makes it good, and she adds i think chicken breast, and some other days, my mom makes chicken soup, she cuts carrots, potatoes (fresh ones), and some other vegetables, and then of course the chicken, and other day she makes rice, she uses tomatoes and i think peppers and blends and then adds to the rice, and then she has i think chicken, with chile ( peppers blended and added on top of chicken) and she makes this soup that has beef in it and she addes fresh vegetables like carrots, ETC. i eat like not too much of all, just like half of a plate, and then while eating, some water or juice, and i go outside like now more like 2-3 hrs a day, 4 times a day, and i snack on like fruit or 100% wheat bread, (toasted or not toasted) and i drink lot of water, but not excessive, and sometimes some juice, my sister has the mixture, into water, flavors are orange, and i go the computer 1-3 hrs, more if i have to do something important, like if my dad wants me to check something, or my sister, or mom, and that is my routine of the day (WILL NOTT ALK ABOUT BATHROOM OR SHOWERS) LoL is this a good health plan? any changes? PLZ HELP! i weigh 138 5 foot 1 inch and i look and feel bloated! :(((( IM FAT :(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Answer: So much chicken. No more stir fries! Cut out the white rice and eat brown rice instead. Adding the vegetables is good. If you are eating full meals three times a day that could be the reason why you feel so bloated. Try eating 5 small meals a day. You haven’t explained what you do outside for 2-3 hours a day. But I suggest you do some Cardio to help you get started.

Will a Low Carb Diet Help Me to Lose the Fastest? Can I Still Eat Fruit?

Filed under: diet help — Tags: — judy @ 12:02 pm

A tough diet help question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: Thanks1
Answer: Actually, of the 3 macronutrients, CARBS is the only one you CAN live without. That’s why there are "essential" amino acids (protein) and "essential" fats. But nobody can ever name you ONE "essential" carbohydrate. Because they aren’t "essential" for human life. Why not? Because carbs (glucose) is the ONLY one of the three (carbs, proteins and fats) that our body CAN produce if needed. It creates glucose from our muscles through a process called "gluconeogenesis".

Anywho. Low carb diets work. They aren’t the only way to lose fat but 75% of the population do very well on them. IF they design them correctly. Big if.

Can you eat fruit on them? Well, it depends how you design your low carb diet. Some people use 100 grams per day (fruits are okay). Others only use 50 grams per day (again, fruits are okay as long as you stay under 50 grams. Which is not a lot.)

there ya go!

good luck!

Diet Pills!!! HELP!!?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: How old do you have to be to buy Quick Trim???Can 14 year olds buy it and is it healthy for 14 year olds to use it?????and if not is it another diet pill other than quick trim I can buy without an adult????
Answer: Hi,

It depends on the store. Some stores might allow it and some won’t allow it, but its not worth buying them. Diet pills wont help you lose weight it will just be a waste of your money. The best way to lose weight is eating a lot of leafy green veggies, fruits, lean protein and whole grains. Also to do daily exercise everyday. You will not see results right away, but don’t become discouraged.

Did you know that increasing your metabolism can help in reducing fat? A good way that I found out is to eat several small meals a day, it tricks your body into thinking that food is abundant so it will convert most of the food you eat into energy instead of fat.

I Want to Start with Watermelon Diet. Please Help Me?

Keep the diet help questions coming! I liked this one:

Question: please tell me if it is unhealthy or it works.
kindly tell me how much weight can i lose with watermelon diet?
Answer: UNHEALTHY! if you want to loose weight and keep it off then you need to eat lots of food. Not just watermelon. it has nothing but sugar and water in it. Nothing really nutritional in it at all. You need to teach your body to speed up your metabolism. to do this you need to eat small healthy meals about six times a day. snack on healty things too. This way your metabolism is always working. Its not getting time to stop. if you just starve yourself on watermelon then your metabolism will slow down and when you stop your diet then you will just gain it all back

To lose weight, First of all, you need to get rid of your water weight. Drink eight glasses of water and you’ll pee or sweat it out.

Eat 30 carbs a day and a 1200 calorie diet. No chocolate, candy, or any sugary snack until school starts. Before each meal, drink 1 cup of water mixed with apple cider vinegar. It tastes disgusting! But helps you with your weight loss.

The best exercise is running intervals. Put a two pylons (or any two objects) at least 9 feet away from each other. In the morning, run 33 times. In the afternoon, 21 times and in the evening 16 times. After doing this for a week, put the pylons 11 feet away. Every week, increase distance. Do 100 push-ups and jump rope for 20 minutes. Do another exercise that burns 150 calories. Do this every day for a week. I promise you, you’ll see great results

LOW CARB DIET - NEED ADVISE AND HELP….?

This week’s question is as follows:

Question: Hi… I’m on a low carb diet… I’ve been eating under 20 carbs a day for the past two weeks. Today was my step-daughter’s birthday so I had a few things I shouldn’t have had.

Now I’m worried because I know that kicked me out of ketosis and I’m wondering what I should do for the rest of the day? Should I skip dinner now? I’m not sure if I eat low carb again if my body will just store whatever I eat as fat until I’m back in ketosis?

I’m very new to the carb diet but so far I’ve loved it and I’ve been doing great. My goal was only to lose 20 lbs and I’ve already dropped 8. I know some of that is water, but it still feels good to see it coming off.

One more question… even though I’ve lost 8lbs… none of my clothes seem that much looser. When should I really notice a difference? Thanks!

Answer: You should continue eating your low carb diet… you cannot take back what you did so all you can do now is look forward and get right back on track. Don’t worry over it because it will consume your mind and as I said, you cannot take back what you already did.

Do not skip dinner either because that will make you binge later, on possibly more foods you shouldn’t be eating on your low carb diet.

People who are on low carb diets typically have one cheat meal a week so you can consider today your cheat meal day. You don’t necessarily need cheat meals but it’s just a way to keep yourself from going crazy.

And yes, you may have lost 8 pounds, which is AWESOME, but your close may not feel any loser because you were able to maintain your muscle mass! Just keep it up, you will see results soon enough. (I have been on a low carb diet for 10 years and feel wonderful!)

HELP PLEASE:diet and Fitness?

A tough diet help question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: okay im 13 and i weigh 72kg and i want to loose at least 3-4kg and toady i went on the treadmill for 40 mins and burnt 323 calories i just want to know how much calories do i need to burn to loose the weight i want and how much calories should i eat per day to loose weight i plan to go on the treadmill for 40mins 4 times per week is that enough and how long would it take me to loose 3kg j
Answer: It takes 3,500 calories to lose a pound of fat. Try calculating your caloric needs: pediatrics.about.com/library/bl_calorie_calc.htm. Based on this number, you will need to cut out 500 calories every day, to lose a pound in a week. Don’t go below 1500 calories though, you are 13, still growing, and don’t need to lose a lot of weight! Try doing exercises like crunches, squats, etc, to build muscle and a better physique. Don’t stress out about losing weight, your body will naturally adjust as you get older. Remember to eat properly to keep growing…try cutting out excess sweets and fattening foods from your diet, too. Eat more lean meat, protein, fresh vegetables, fruits, healthy fats like peanut butter, and enjoy sweets in moderation. This will give you the energy you need to workout and stay healthy! I think 40 minutes on the treadmill 4 x a week is a great start, once you get comfortable doing that, aim for about 45 minutes 5-6 days a week. That will help you get the best results. If you do feel very tired or sore after the 4 days, try cutting it down a bit. Good luck! : )

I Need Some Dieting Help and Advice…?

This week’s question is a good one. Let’s have a look:

Question: Hello. I’m 23 years old. I’m 5′4" and currently weigh 190 lbs. I’d like to lose 20 lbs. by October 1st. This means I’ll have to lose about 2 lbs. per week to reach my first goal. I plan on limiting my calorie intake to 1200 calories per day. How much and what kind of exercise will I need to do daily to lose this weight? I don’t want to get burnt out in the first week like I always do when trying to start a weight loss plan. Once I lose the 20 lbs., I will set another goal to lose more weight. Ideally, I’d like to get down to 140 lbs. which means losing 50 lbs. but I don’t want to set such a huge goal at once because I feel I’d be setting myself up to fail. Any suggestions? Advice? Thanks!

Boxing Workout and Diet Help?

Keep the diet help questions coming! I liked this one:

Question: I am looking for a workout for boxing that can help me shed weight and get in good boxing shape. Also I am looking for a good boxing diet to follow.
Answer: for a boxing regimen, there are several factors but the basic drills are:
-stretches ~20minutes
-(w/ proper hand wraps and boxing gloves) punch punching bag for 3 min. straight non-stop. feel free to mix up all sorts of punches from jabs to straights and move around the bag every now and then. don’t just stand in one spot.
-jump rope (try 500 at first day and slowly increase after each session)
-set up a small but sturdy platform you can find these in gyms or ask the people who work there for one. with both legs together jump on to the middle of the platform, then jump off and land both feet on ground. repeat. try one set of 200 your first time, it is grueling work-out but it works on your leg muscles.
-speed bags
-targets- if you have a friend or trainer, and have the target mits, you can do combination punches and dodge or duck w/ them too
-cool-off and stretch

As for diet:
-try to avoid fastfood, fried food, white bread, pasta, white rice, and bad sugar
-do eat more veggies and fruits like carrots, potatoes, bell peppers, spinach (better than lettuce), banana, apples, blue berries, oranges, etc…
-eat lean meat, fish, eggs (not too many b/c they have cholesterol), pork, beans, low-fat yogurt
-if you choose to eat nuts, eat unsalted nuts
-for milk drink 1%, 2% or skim
-for bread, make sure its high on fiber and whole wheat, a lot of brands claim to be whole wheat but you can double check by reading the nutrition label and compare it w/ the breads around

when you go on a diet, take it slow, and don’t lose motivation if you accidentally break it, everyone needs a break sometimes so maybe once a month or every couple of weeks, treat yourself. Remember that a diet doesn’t mean not eating, its eating the right foods, boxing will take up a lot of calories and you need the food for energy.

Good luck w/ boxing. =)
