Question: I Keep Forgetting Im on a Diet HELP How Can I Keep My Will Power Charged Up?????????????
Answer: First off, make sure you check out how Ruby and I lost all the weight we did: The Diet Tribe Now, onto your question…Get the worst picture of you that you can find.

Take it to a photoshop - have it blown up to A4 size and copied 4 times.
Put one copy on the fridge.
Put copy two on your mirror.
Put copy three near the snack cupboard
Put copy four where you can see it first thing in the morning.

That will help you remember WHY you are dieting.

Diet Help!!?

Filed under: diet help — Tags: — judy @ 7:12 am

A tough diet help question this week. Let’s dive straight in

Question: I have gone from 140 down to 133 pounds but am finding it hard to loose the rest of my wieght!!!! Any advice please!!!
I better point out that I am only 5 foot so I am little and therefore overweight!!
Answer: First off, make sure you check out how Ruby and I lost all the weight we did: The Diet Tribe Now, onto your question…Sounds like you hit a plateau. Are you varying your exercize program? Doing the same exact thing everyday tends to create these plateaus. You need to push yourself physically past what you are used to doing. Try a new activity, you did not state what you have been doing to lose the weight to begin with though.

I recommend spinning. I have gained the most from spinning class. I have lost alot of fat and gained alot of muscle and stamina. Having someone push you as the do in Spin classes seems to help as I would never exert myself that much on my own. Also try to find a trainer at the gym who will work with you on a specific area each day you go. They push you as well beyond your comfortable zone.
You need to be in your target heart rate, here is some good info on finding that for your specific needs:
http://www.pnc.edu/depts/hr/Wellness/target_heart_rate_zone_training.htm
(I like the Karvonen method)

Try things you normally would not do and it will trick your body into getting off that weight loss plateau you hit. Swimming, spinning (biking), stair step machine, fitness bootcamps, etc.. If you can afford a personal trainer (I cannot, lol) they are way worth it. they push you beyond your comfort zone. The YMCA has reasonable trainer prices, about 30$ a session or something like that.

Also it seems to me that the weight comes off (or is noticable) every 6 weeks. I mean that I first could see a difference 6 weeks after starting to exercize regularly then it took about 6 more weeks to lose anoither 10 lbs.etc.. Everyone is surely different though.

Another thing is to do weights before cardio. Doing this allows your body to get into the "fat burning zone" more quickly than hitting the gym and going directly tro cardio. When yoiu start with cardio it take 25 to 30 minutes for your body to start burning body fat as opposed to just using what you ate that day.

Eat small snack meals several times a day and have a very small carbohydrate snack 2 hours before exercizing. An apple or peanut butter banana or what ever.\

Another thing is that if you are eating too little your body will horde all the calories and fat you eat because it is in starvation mode.

Help I Need to Lose Weight, Can Anyone Tell Me a Website with Information on a Sensible Diet?

Filed under: diet help — Tags: — judy @ 12:54 am

What a great diet help question:

Question: Help I Need to Lose Weight, Can Anyone Tell Me a Website with Information on a Sensible Diet?
Answer: First off, make sure you check out how Ruby and I lost all the weight we did: The Diet Tribe Now, onto your question…The following healthy living recommendations will help you if youâ??re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid â??High Glycemic Load Carbsâ? (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is â??Weight Training for Dummiesâ?. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is â??Fitness for Dummiesâ?.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is â??Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005â?. A superb book to read is â??You The Ownerâ??s Manualâ?. An excellent periodic publication is the â??Nutrition Action Health Letterâ?. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com

Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Send me an email or yahoo instant message to "gainbetterhealth" if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.
